As well as the Lagos caves, we mustn’t forget one of the most popular of all the grottos in the Algarve – Algar de Benagil, only accessible by boat or kayak.
Despite the distance of 11 nautical miles from Lagos, as we know this cave is so special and many visitors really want to visit, we also offer a trip there on one of our fast RIB boats – after all, we wouldn’t want you to miss out on this amazing experience just because of a few nautical miles!
Departuring from Marina de Lagos it takes about 20/25 minutes for our fast RIB to cover the 11 nautical miles (about 20 km) that separate Lagos from Benagil.
In this trip, you’ll be able to see the most famous secret of Europe, the “Algar de Benagil” among other spots, grottos and rock formations of this piece of coast around Benagil.
This grotto boasts some of the most unique and spectacular natural lighting effects created as the sunlight enters through the caves’ orifices and bounces off the water’s surface. A truly magical experience!
Lagos to Benagil: ~ 25 minutes
Time spent visiting the rock formations in Benagil: ~ 40 minutes
Benagil to Lagos: ~ 30 minutes (Sometimes the return to Lagos can be very windy. We do provide wind jackets on board)
On this trip it is not possible to leave the boat or stop for a swim.
